Safety & Risk Advisor | Community and Workplace Traumatologist & Crisis Responder

Mr. Poirier is the founder and director of Argus Research Group. Furthermore, he is a passionate  Safety & Risk Advisor who has been heavily involved in the rail infrastructure for almost a decade. He has developed what he has named the Trauma-Informed Incident Response & Interviewing (TIIRI) awareness training to assist anyone who is interested in learning more about how certain incidents/events can have an impact on us and others. Moreover, it is because he understands that the information gleaned from the people involved in the incident/event is one of the larger and most important pieces of the investigation puzzle. Specifically, how and when that information is obtained is even more important - Why? We need to understand and respect the risks concerning trauma (the mental health of the witnesses, victims, and the responders - Do no harm) as well as the requirement to obtain reliable information.

He is a Certified P.E.A.C.E Investigative Interviewer (CPII), a Community and Workplace Traumatologist (TITC-CWT), a Certified Human Trafficking Investigator (CHTI), and he has also completed training in School Crisis Response (TITC-SCR), and Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), and MHFA for adults who interact with youth. Finally, he is also trained in situational awareness and is a Situation Awareness Specialist - Advanced Practitioner (SAS-AP)

Mr. Poirier has been involved in service of process activities, as well as surveillance and research related to insurance and corporate investigations.

He has led incident investigations, and provided consultations to operations staff, and ground crews in some of Ontario's largest and busiest rail corridors. He has also assisted with, and helped coordinate various SIU Inquiries to help locate and interview witnesses regarding motor vehicle incidents, and violent physical altercations. Mr. Poirier also investigates workplace incidents related to harassment, violence and intimidation, fraud, and misconduct.

While continuing his education and working as an investigator, and safety & risk Advisor, Mr. Poirier has also gained experience as an operational member in several specialty units, including ground search and rescue while volunteering with one of Ontario’s most recognized Volunteer Search and Rescue organizations.

Mr. Poirier’s focus is providing support, and services where he can make a positive impact. While employing the use of some of the most reliable systems, and ethical methods in the industry. These areas include but are not limited to; private investigations, incident investigations, health and safety, and risk management.

His passion and focus is the human element - specifically as a Community and Workplace Traumatologist (Traumatology Institute Curriculum) Incident Responder and Investigator, making a difference where it matters most.

The Traumatology Institute is internationally recognized by: The American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress, International Association of Trauma Professionals, National Centre for Crisis Management, Canadian Professional Counsellors Association, National Association of Social Workers, Psych Congress, and the Green Cross Academy of Traumatology.
